Rather than continue on with BN, I decided to off the Zero series with this review of Zero 4. This game does a pretty good job showing 4 part trilogies SUCK.

Gameplay: THE FUCKING SHEILD BOOMERANG IS GONE. Instead you now have the Z-knuckle, a gimmicky weapon that lets you steal weapons from other enemies, which mostly suck. Seriously, this is stupid, I would rather have had 4 permanent weapons that 3 with one that sucks and is variable. In addition you can now use parts from enemies to build shit, yay. The cyber elves have been revamped again, and now are replaced with one uber cyber elf you upgrade and can give various abilities, which while sounding more complicated is a much more efficient system (and probably the only decent thing about the game). There's also a weather system in this game, if you play the stages on their harder versions you can get the Ex-skill from the boss regardless of rank, this is also quite gimmicky. Overall, this game is one huge pile of gimmicks that failed to do much of anything. After Zero 3, this game is quite sad.

Music: Mostly unmemorable junk. A few tracks are good, but it could be a lot better.

Translation: Any game that's the following in it:

really needs to have its script re-evaluated.

Length: Typical length, although the fact that there are two intro stages and two mid stages is a tad odd.

Rehash Factor: Besides some reused stage elements (The sudden return of those enemies from Magnion's stage in Zero 2), most of the game is new. But, the second intro boss bears an uncanny resemblance to the intro boss of X2, and the mid game boss is blatantly similar to intro boss of X3. In addition the Weil Numbers from MegaMan Zero 3 make a brief cameo appearance.

Plot: Simply horrid. The plot of this game is Weil is trying to destroy nature to make an example of these humans who fled his rule. Messing up nature oh gee let's be honest all the game needs to be Captain Planet is this:
EARTH
FIRE
WIND
WATER
HEART
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO PLANET!
Seriously, this game's plot hurts my brain. As the last game in the series (Apparently) it also does a nice job of not explaining shit. Good job Capcom, good job.

Difficulty: Fairly easy, you could always beat the bosses the easy way and just not get their ex-skills. The final boss however, is stupid, and would be more appropriate in a Metroid game.

This game just failed to deliver.

Positive: It's the last Zero game.

Negative: Diet MegaMan Zero.
