Look the first Metroid Prime game was fine and all, but calling the whole trilogy the CITIZEN FUCKING KANE of video games is WAY WAY WAY TOO FAR.

ESPECIALLY WHEN THE SECOND TWO WEREN'T SO GOOD.

Fusion

I agree, Neon.  I'm not gonna pull any punches just 'cause it's Nintendo for now.

Metroid Prime 1 was a perfect, or a prime example of almost how Metroid should be done in 3D without looking like more an action game and less an adventure title.  It was flawless because it did it all first and it launched the Metroid Prime series to the 2 sequels and trilogy edition it got.

Metroid Prime 2, wasn't as great.  For starters, they added the Beam Ammo rap name.  Now not only do we have to worry about getting from Point A to Point B, but now we have to charge up our beam to get through doors if we don't have any ammo for the beam.  There's some enemies that just aren't worth attacking with the Power Beam.  Plus, unlike the missile doors and power bomb doors, if the beams took ammo, why couldn't the special doors be unlocked and turned permanently into doors that can be opened with the Power Beam?

Add to that the landscape is hardly fluid, to get to any general area you have to travel through the overworld.  EVery.  Single.  Time.  The only time you do reach a point where you get to interconnected areas, it's so late in the game that it's barely useful.  Plus the dark world, just doubles the size of the landscape you have to travel, that's all.  Now not only do you have to travel the same area twice if not more, but you have to repeatedly backtrack through mostly reskinned areas that have a poisonous effect on your suit for 3/4ths of the game.

Metroid Prime 3 ended up as the Metroid Fusion of the Prime series.  The Samus' ship bits are pretty much pointless given that Retro Studios scrapped the whole idea of controlling the gunship.  Plus: Where did the switchable beams go?  They opted for a Metroid Fusion-style beam system.  The Wii controls were nice, but it's a shame that some of the coolest features get left in Prime 3.

Metroid Prime is hardly the Citizen Kane of games.  That's just some idiot spouting off something he doesn't know about.  The writer of that probably hasn't ever watched Citizen Kane.

I even hated the first one. Screw that.

fuck no.

Jango

The Metroid Prime Series is more like the US Godzilla of videogames; overhyped with no pay-off.

A bit of an update, the guy who designed the Prime series doesn't get the comparison either.
