It is time.

Gameplay: The gameplay is radically different than anything in the classic series. While you still have the same buster type approach you now have the ability to climb walls by kicking off of them and the slide has been replaced with the dash. In addition Robot Masters are no more and have been replaced with Mavericks, which are animal based. X however starts the game with a smaller life bar than bosses and must find heart tanks to increase it. In addition he must find Dr. Light's capsule's to augment his abilities, and Sub-Tanks to store energy in. While a tad on the "fetch quest" side, it's executed superbly. It should also be mentioned this game was the first to feature level to level interaction, beating certain levels causes certain things to happen in other levels. For example, beating Storm Eagle's stage causes the power in Spark Mandrill's stage to be out making the mini boss far easier. Overall this game has some of the best gameplay in the entire MegaMan franchise.

Music: I always found MegaMan X's soundtrack to be one of the best in the series after MegaMan 3. This is largely due to the awesomeness of Storm Eagle's theme. There really isn't a track in this game I don't like.

Translation: Sadly the game does have a few typos. The most notorious being the infamous "Horming Torpedo". They are all pretty minor save that one. So, I'm going to be generous and give this game a 9.

Length: Basically the same length as MegaMan 7, so same score.

Rehash Factor: MegaMan X is the first in the X series. Having stated that, a few enemies from the Classic series do make appearances in this game, notably the Metool and a Bubble Bat. The boss selected music is the old one too. However those were minor in comparison to the vast amount of new things in this game.

Plot: The plot is fairly decent, it sets up the series quite nicely. You have to have the instruction book to get the whole plot however, which is slightly silly.

Difficulty: Fairly easy actually, it might provide challenge to people not familiar with the series. But it's still probably the easiest MegaMan game of them all.

97/100 = 97 %

Not too shabby.

Positive: Started the X series.

Negative: Technically speaking led to MegaMan X6.
