Intro: Back in the eighties every television cartoon got a video game to go along with it. Duck Tales, however is one of the rare cases where the crappy game was actually fairly good. The game was designed by Capcom.

Gameplay: Scrooge McDuck plays differently than most protagonists in platformers of that time; not only can he not run, he also has no projectile weaponry. Instead he attacks by using his cane as a pogo stick. Seriously. This also lets him hop across spikes and other hazardous materials. He can also use the cane to hit objects to send them flying, the closest thing to a projectile he has.

The basic point of the game is to collect various treasures because Scrooge is a capitalist pig-dog. These also influence the games ending, but not many people will care enough to play through to see the different endings. You can go through a level multiple times, and even leave during part of if you talk to some duck pilot guy, which will occasionally result in a bonus stage, wherein you can earn even MORE money. Scrooge has a health meter, and can heal with desserts. Seriously. There are also find two hidden health upgrades throughout the game.

Translation: The games text is limited to menu selections and some things that some NPCs tell you. As far as I can tell there is really nothing wrong with them either.

Length: The game is quite short clocking it at a total of five stages, one which you actually end up visiting a total of three times. But the game was meant to be played in one sitting as shown by the lack of any sort of a password system. Still it's pretty damn short, even MegaMan 1 was longer.

Rehash Factor: Unless you want to count using the TV's shows theme music...

Plot: Scrooge decided he wasn't obscenely rich enough and so goes on a rampage on five locations throughout the world to plunder the local treasures. After that they get stolen by some vampire... or something...

Difficulty: The game has three difficulty settings, but still even then fairly easy after you play through it once.

Duck Tales was fairly good for its time, but it may show its age to more recent gamers. The game is also quite short, but some people might enjoy that. What many people don't know was there was a sequel also for the NES, most people don't know this because it was released in 1993, while the SNES was in full swing. Hell I didn't even knew about until I decided to review this one.

Positive:

Negative: Scrooge McDuck is a capitalist pig-dog.
