Ah yes, MegaMan 1, the first MegaMan game, as such it should be given special privileges right? Well no, I'm still going to try and give this one hell.

Gameplay: Being the first game in the series the gameplay is obviously quite primitive, all MegaMan can do is jump, walk, climb ladders, and shoot. No sliding, no charging, and no passwords.

Music: Despite being such an 18 year old game MegaMan 1 had some great tracks in it, some of the tracks could be viewed as repetitive, i.e. FireMan's and GutsMan's. However, it still isn't that bad.

Translation: This game gets a perfect score, not because it was translated well, because for all essential purposes there was nothing to translate, only the ending speech at the end of the game, and they actually got that right.

Length: Compared to most MegaMan games this one is fairly short, which is a good thing as there is not a password system. Given the fact that there is no password system into account this game is a fairly decent length.

Rehash Factor: Not applicable.

Plot: The plot of MegaMan 1 is not explained anywhere in the game, for this you need an instruction book (see saving those is good after all). However, looking at the plot it seems quite cliché, Wily goes nuts and steals the robots and you have to fight him. Although cliché indeed at the time this was probably a decent plot, and it isn't the standard revenge cliché, which is in MegaMan 2.

Difficulty: This game excels here, I've seen new generation gamers play this and leave crying, it's truly awesome when that happens btw. There are some annoying parts such as GutsMan's stage's platforms of doom and of course the Yellow Devil, but both of these can be mastered with patience and skill. Or the Magnet Beam and Start-select trick, your call. The only thing that really brings this down is the lack of a password system, means you have to finish it in one sitting which could be inconvenient at times.

Overall this was a good start for the series.

Positive: Owning CutMan with the Super Arm, come on who doesn't enjoy that?

Negative: GutsMan's stage.
