You register using an e-mail, username and password, then you have to verify that you have it. To do this you have to paste a SECRET CODE LOLOLOL into your steam profile and then it'll check if that code is there + if you own GMod.

Best part of this is I Believe you only need to verify only once.  Then you can set your profile to private again and remove that tacky code.
