Title: Monkey Island
Post by: UHMEEEEBA on June 01, 2009, 12:10:20 PM
I'd make a dairy farmer joke but I don't think it'd fit. (http://corrupt, adulterating shitbags.com/5273950/new-and-old-monkey-island-adventures-in-the-works)

They're both doing a new five part episodic series* and a remake** of the original 1990 game.

*PC and Wii Ware.

**XBOX Live Arcade and PC

I'd say more but there isn't a word in the English language that conveys how awesome this could be if done right.

Bumping this to post that yes, Murray the demonic talking skull will make an appearance in one of the episodes of Tales. (http://www.mixnmojo.com/php/news/showfile.php?id=3501&category=telltale)

The first episode of Tales was good enough by the way, hell it was better than the entirety of Escape but that's besides the point.

Haven't checked out the remake yet though.

I bought the first episode of Monkey Island on the Wii. It's almost unplayable just because for some stupid reason, the programmers decided to emulate the lag. Combine that with the REQUIREMENT of using the Wiimote to aim, and... well I turned it off after 5 minutes and went back to watching The Mighty Boosh.

You have to remember that Nintendo forces all Wii Ware titles to be at most 40 MB,

The PC version of Tales of Monkey Island is over 200 MB.

THEREFORE SHIT HAPPENED

You can still get the entire season on PC for less than what the remaining four episodes would cost you on the Wii, no really.

Tales is the new game it has nothing to do with the remake and as such should not effect your decision.

So hey last episode came out a while ago.

Telltale seemed to go out of there way leaving just enough loose ends to try and get Lucas Arts to let them do a second season later, clever bastards.

It only gets more confusing puzzle wise after the first episode.

Although to be frank most of Tales's puzzles where really easy, none of that hypnotize a monkey by putting a banana on a metronome so you can put him in your inventory so you can later shape him into a wrench to mess with a valve to lower a waterfall much later in the game, type of puzzles.

Edit: And now that I've thought about where was Herman Toothrot? He didn't even get a mention in the whole season like the cardboard cutout in Curse... I know there's the stupid plot of Escape and all but they could at least referenced the guy somehow.
