First up, ISPs refuse to police the internet.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/8046028.stm
Heh. That figures. The Internet is really too damn big to police.
Too bad something tells me that the good news ratio to the bad ones will probrably come out something like 1:1000000000000.

I feel the same way.
And especially here in Sweden, they want to police EVERYTHING.
No shit. Your courts are partially the reason most of this shit's being brought down in the first place (what with the Pirate Bay and all).
Another beacon of light (http://www.zeropaid.com/news/86315/harvard-prof-calls-riaa-lawsuits-unconstitutional-abuse-of-law/).
QuoteNesson also makes the point that when Congress wrote the Copyright Act it surely never intended to allow copyright holders to target "pro se noncommercial defendants," those acquiring content for personal use. This is surely the case and something it needs to take up if copyright law is ever to catch up to the social realities of a digital world.
YES
You know, after OhBummer brought some RIAA-butsecksers to the so-called "Departament of Justice", my fears have bene verified that OhBummer is nothing but a tool wait WHAT?! (http://news.slashdot.org/story/09/05/31/1521236/Obama-DoJ-Goes-Against-Film-Companies)
The three strikes law struck out. (http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/news/2009/06/french-court-savages-3-strikes-law-tosses-it-out.ars)
NOW do you see the problem with policing the internet? (http://www.electronista.com/articles/09/06/24/riaa.forced.settle/)
Indeed.
I'd wish I would learn some Spanish now. (http://torrentfreak.com/judge-rules-p2p-legal-sites-to-be-presumed-innocent-090707/)
It's just another bunch of RIAA bull- (http://torrentfreak.com/drm-is-dead-riaa-says-090719/)
QuoteJonathan Lamy, chief spokesperson for the RIAA declared DRM dead, when he was asked about the RIAA's view on DRM for an upcoming SCMagazine article. "DRM is dead, isn't it?" Lamy said, referring to the DRM-less iTunes store and other online outfits that now offer music without restrictions.
...Wait...
What?
FUCK YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH
WE WIN WE WIN
or it might just be a trap.
Thats kool. im still gonna buy my music from the store cuz i love coporations :pedo:
FCC takes matters into it's own hands (http://www.reuters.com/article/technologyNews/idUSTRE58H59A20090918).
Long story short: The FCC is saying that all content shall be treated equally, that no ISP should legally be allowed to cut off access based on content.
If all content is treated equally, then wouldn't that place CP on the same level as the bible?
At least we're still allowed to speak against a certain organization, yet.... (http://www.wired.com/threatlevel/2009/10/magistrate-clears-blogger-riaa-of-vexatious-charges/)
They forgot to disarm a certain bomb. Alas, them fixing this would be inevitable. (http://yro.slashdot.org/story/09/11/15/2119230/Copyright-Time-Bomb-Set-To-Go-Off)

Well, I think he's on our side for the moment. (http://www.myfoxdc.com/dpp/news/dpg_Obama_China_Internet_fc_200911161258371717026)
QuoteHe added he's a "big supporter of non-censorship,"
Maybe after this he can go to Japan and tell them to stop putting mosaic on all of their porn.
To the group of artists who don't quite think that suing fans and cutting their net connection is the right way (that included Moby and Radiohead), guess who has just recently joined. (http://torrentfreak.com/mc-hammer-stop-the-music-piracy-crackdown-091116/)
JZ, you know what to do.
How ironic.
QuoteIn addition to calling for a stop to the legal battles, Hammer thinks the music labels should focus more on digital content instead of trying to sell plastic to a generation of people that have never even owned a standalone CD player.
I partially agree with this. I like CDs, and I still buy them because I want it to remain that way. There's a lot more that can go wrong with downloads (and I can safely say that, owning many tracks which have skipped considerably due to several hard drive transfers). Of course, that was all pirated music from YEARS ago... And I am actually considering going out and finding said CDs with the tracks mentioned because it is a lot more convenient to rip from a CD than to download them all again.
I just buy CD's because I can actually control the sound quality of the rips. If I can't do that, amazon.com is awesome because the majority of their tracks are high quality VBA (or else a consistent 256 kbps)
The copyright hounds are getting hounded themselves (http://torrentfreak.com/record-labels-face-60-billion-damages-for-pirating-artists-091207/)
One higher-up (that doesn't say much, but still) doesn't like (http://yro.slashdot.org/story/10/02/23/0133240/EU-Privacy-Chief-Says-ACTA-Violates-European-Law) how's ACTA itself is shaping (http://www.boingboing.net/2010/02/21/acta-internet-enforc.html)
You can say that Karma has bit Warner in the ass (http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/100937-Warner-Bros-Sued-for-Pirating-Anti-Piracy-Technology)
lmao
The DMCA receives some exemptions (http://corrupt, adulterating shitbags.com/5596568/new-dmca-rules-say-jailbreaking-your-iphone-is-okay?skyline=true&s=i). Take them how you will.
Tommy Wiseau can fuck off now.
I'm pretty sure Wiseau had nothing to do with removing the Critic's review of The Room. Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't he say that he actually likes the kind of publicity he is getting?
I believe the Rifftrax is still available if you absolutely must see the movie lampooned.
Looks like ACTA's losing steam (http://www.michaelgeist.ca/content/view/5352/408/).
How does it feel to be violating human rights, France?! (http://torrentfreak.com/un-disconnecting-file-sharers-breaches-human-rights-110603/)
Considering recent circumstances (http://www.trinitymugen.net/forum/index.php?topic=889.msg24521#msg24521), someone please lock this topic, trash it into a bin, whatever. There's no point keeping this up at all when it's more than definite that we lost.

I love hypocrisy on the enemy's side.
I love you, Switzerland (http://torrentfreak.com/swiss-govt-downloading-movies-and-music-will-stay-legal-111202/)
So the "researcher" that Big Content turns to whenever they need distorted stats about piracy just came out against SOPAPIPA (http://www.techdirt.com/articles/20120110/03502617362/nbc-universals-own-preferred-researcher-anti-piracy-stats-comes-out-against-sopapipa.shtml)

Texas wants to secede, so Austin wants to stay. I'm totally fine with that, because we ARE better than the rest of Texas who're pitching a bitchfit over the election for really no good reason.
I get shit all the time for being liberal when really, I have issues I'm conservative about, and I have issues that I'm liberal about, but the REAL fact of the matter is, I am anti-idiocy. And half of the US is being fucking retarded.
I'd be okay if they were seceding because they were fed up with what the States have been doing lately (eg. TSA bullshit, drone strikes in the Middle East, censorship laws disguised as IP protection) but seceding because "one of dem uppity niggers wuz electid?"
Fuck that. And of course, we know all too well what happen the last time states decided to secede, and it was over the abolition of something not really that ethical.
See if Texas can seriously secede from America, why is it that Hawaii hasn't been able to do jack in the last half century?
Variety, I guess?
